J. Cecil Pittman
(September 9, 1925 – October 31, 2012)
A life-long resident of Spring Creek, Louisiana, Cecil Pittman left for a greater place on October 30, 2012. He was born on September 9, 1925 to parents Jim and Ora Pittman. Cecil was a graduate of Spring Creek High School and Southeastern LA University. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy thru WWII. On July 13, 1954 Cecil and June Patterson were united in marriage. After retiring from a long career with the State Dept. of Agriculture, he was owner & storekeeper of Sunny Hill Grocery. Cecil Pittman’s service to his country, loyal friendships, and love for his family will always be remembered. Preceded in death, by his loving wife of 56 years, June Patterson Pittman; his first-born son Jeff Pittman; 5 brothers, Kevin, Jack, Rufus, Roy & Ed Pittman; and 3 sisters Arnita Rutledge and Fannie McBride and Ruby Howes. Cecil Pittman is survived by his son Charles “Chuck” Pittman, 2 daughters Cecilia “Cece” Pittman and Sandra Burling, and her husband Tom; daughter-in-law Meg Stephens, granddaughter Amanda Love & her husband Wesley Shoup with their children Jadyn, Brantley, and Halle, granddaughter Megan Hope & her daughter Morgan, granddaughter Katrina Faith & her daughter Jocelyn, granddaughter Hannah Joy, grandson Tommy Ray Givens and grandson Jody Givens & his wife Delilah. Visitation will be at Spring Creek Baptist Church on Friday, November 2 from 8AM until funeral service at 11AM, conducted by Dr. Danny Smith. Interment will follow in Spring Creek Cemetery.
