Ellis Philip Hayden
(November 30, 1926 – October 28, 2012)
A life long resident of Amite and current resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 7:20 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He was born November 30, 1926 in Amite and was 85 years of age. Mr. Hayden served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Wilda Hyde Hayden, Baton Rouge; son, Richard Hayden and wife, Sherri, Baton Rouge; 2 granddaughters, Jennifer Erin Smith and husband, Field, Jefferson and Meghan Elizabeth Hayden, Sheridan, WY; great-grandson, Hayden Carter Smith; 2 brothers, Horace and Alfred Hayden; 3 sisters, Marybelle Brumfield, Yvonne Vining and Gussie Stevens, all of Amite; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Leander and Forace Chambers Hayden. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Hollis Monroe Corkern
(March 28, 1954 – October 28, 2012)
A loving husband, brother, and friend passed away at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond on October 28, 2012 at the age of 59. He was born March 28, 1954 in Bogalusa and was a current resident of Kentwood. Hollis is survived by his wife, Beulah Corkern of Kentwood; 4 brothers, Gregory, Terry, Henry and Albert Corkern; 2 sisters, Barbara Corkern Cutrer and Dorothy Corkern Dykes. He was preceded in death by his mother, Tressie Mae Dykes Corkern Smith Seals; father, Matthew Lewis Corkern; brother, William Lewis “Buddy” Corkern; sister, Margie, Corkern Dover; maternal grandmother, Emma Travis Dykes; maternal grandfather, Coy Dykes, Sr.; paternal grandmother, Mary Fairburn Corkern; paternal grandfather, William Lofton Corkern. He was dedicated to fishing and hunting. Visitation is at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m. on Wednesday Oct. 31, 2012. Services conducted by Rev.
