The new Wednesday version of AWANA begins tonight at 5:30 with a meal in the fellowship hall of FBC, Kentwood. Come tonight to see for yourself. Also, adults will have the opportunity for get a meal (chicken and dumplings) before prayer meeting. The meal for adults is by donation only.
“Miss” Lucy Goings has been improving at Ochsner Hospital. Thank-you for your continued prayers for her and her family.

There are many needs in the wake of Hurricane Isaac. Below are reports and requests from churches, associations, and individuals in need of assistance. - Supply labor to assist chain saw crew. Volunteers could haul limbs and do general clean up.
- Churches affected include:
- Bethel, Bourg – flooded, mud-out crews needed (must be trained)
- Live Oak, Montegut – flooded, needs mud-out
- Grand Isle, Grand Isle – wind damage to siding
- Little Caillou Baptist Mission, Chauvin – flood damage not covered by insurance

- NOBTS – general clean up following clearing of 10-12 big oaks that were blown down. Crews are removing debris. Repairs need to be made to roofs and fences that were damaged.
- Association Office – roof is damaged and water damage to interior.
- Churches that sustained damaged include:
- Airline Baptist Church – Roof damage
- Avondale Baptist Church – Roof is badly damaged and there is water damage to the interior. Church has insurance but has a deductible of $70,000 (not unusual for the area). Financial assistance toward the deductible would be helpful.
- Oak Park Baptist Church – Roof damaged and there is water in sanctuary and education building. There is evidence of roof leakage in many places.
- Suburban Baptist Church – structural damage to the eaves and siding, water is leaking in the sanctuary, sign damage, tree damage and playground fencing is down.
- Barataria Baptist Church, Lafitte – sustained the most damage in the storm. Church is flooded and needs mud-out crews (must be trained).
- FBC, Westwego – Roof damage, water damage in both buildings
- FBC, Chalmette – minor roof damage
- Celebration, Laplace – water in building, floors are damaged
- Plaquemines Parish was evacuated before the storm. Much of the parish was flooded. Many families lost everything they were not able to carry. Needs include: household goods, clothing, cleaning supplies, and mud-out services. The leadership of Plaquemines parish is very friendly and welcoming of Baptist assistance. Churches and individuals are asked to consider making cash donations in addition to labor and goods to help citizens there. Chaplains are needed to support the police and emergency personnel.
- St. John the Baptist Parish reports damages similar to Plaquemines. Churches and individuals can provide the same type of assistance.

- Northshore Baptist Association is doing general Disaster Relief work including serving evacuees housed in the area, feeding units, chainsaw crews, mud-out crews, debris removal, and chaplain services. Churches can help by delivering bottled water and Gatorade/Powerade for workers. Cleaning supplies are also needed for mud-out teams along with donations of labor, materials and financial assistance.
- Slidell is still flooded and many residents there have lost most of their possessions. Churches can help by supplying labor, household goods and financial assistance.
- Churches reporting damage include:
- Madisonville FBC – Flooded and needs mud-out crews (must be trained).
- St. James, Madisonville – A large tree fell on the sanctuary. There is roof damage and cleanup needs.
- Crossgate, Robert – was cut-off by high water until Monday (9/3) but many of their members had damage. This church needs prayer partners. Rev. Louis Husser is pastor, and may be contacted at (cell) 985 507 7988 (church) 985 542 4797.

- Trinity, Franklinton – flooded and needs mud-out.
- Bethel, Franklinton – flooded and needs mud-out.
- Pleasant Hill, Bogalusa – roof was torn off and sustained extensive damage.
- Main Street Baptist, Bogalusa – limb went through parsonage roof.
Please continue to pray for those adversely affected by the storms as well as the volunteers who are providing much-needed services.
