Monday Afternoon

I needed just the right devotional for today.  This one just arrived in my email.  That’s the one I have been waiting for.  Thanks, Holley!

Heart to Heart with Holley – What’s Ahead Will Be Worth It

Posted: 28 May 2012 07:47 AM PDT

Toronto sprawls out in neighboorhoods and side streets. On every corner there’s a different taste, smell, sight. So much variety. So many people. So many ways to see God’s creativity.

Mark and I are headed for a pizza place downtown. But there real point is the journey there. When we travel, we walk, walk and then walk some more. We want to be in the middle of it all.

At some point my feet begin to hurt a little. My tummy growls. I feel the sun grow a bit hot on my face.

Then we cross a street and we are there. And it’s so worth it.

The pizza would have been good no matter what–but it’s even better because it took some work, some living, to get there.

This week you’ll have some walking to do, friend. At times your feet (or heart) will hurt a little. Your tummy (and inner soul hunger) may growl. You may feel the sun (and your circumstances) grow a bit hot on your face.

So I just want to lean in and whisper, “It will be worth it. And if you dare, find some joy in the journey too.”

God has good things ahead for you. And they might be just around the corner.

Bro. Joey was out of town yesterday, so we had Andy Taylor leading the music and Rev. Butch Revier preaching.  I want to say the music was exceptionally good and Bro. Butch was interesting yesterday morning.  Last night, the service again had great music and Bro. Butch outdid himself with the message.  I’m sure everyone there was touched by the words and Scriptures he shared.  Last night’s message was about the first generation of the church from Acts 2:41-47.  The title of the message was “The Essentials of a Church God Blesses”.  His key points were:

  1. Believe the Bible is the Word of God
  2. Believe God Answers Prayers
  3. Faithful Attendance at Church
  4. Members Set Standards for Christian Living
  5. Be Devoted and Faithful
  6. Believe Everyone without Christ is Lost

He stressed the urgency of winning the lost with this quote – “Believers are not fully convinced of the horrors of hell and how long they will last”.

Thank you both for leading us yesterday.  God surely spoke through you!
