A resident of Kentwood, he died at 11:02 a.m. on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at his home. He was born April 4, 1926 in Kentwood and was 86 years of age. Rip was a member of Pine Ridge Methodist Church, a retired dairy farmer, and a World War II Navy Veteran. He is survived by one daughter, Paulette Waller Nettles and husband, James Ray Nettles, Kentwood; two sons, Floyd R. Waller and wife, Charlene Dykes Waller, Kentwood; and Warren Mark Waller and wife, Susan Guarino Waller, Amite; 8 grandchildren, Elder Joseph T. Nettles and wife, Laura Moore Nettles, Vidalia, GA; Beth Nettles, Whitfield, MS; Sharon Nettles Williams and husband, Elder Heath Williams, Cullman, AL; Angela Nettles Atkinson and husband, Payne Atkinson, Tupelo, MS; Jason R. Waller and wife, Anita Ott Waller, Kentwood; Stacy Waller Guillory and husband, James A. Guillory, Zachary; Alexander M. Waller, Amite; Maxwell Miles Waller, Amite; 17 great grandchildren, Royce, Madeline, Audrey, Camille, and Ava Nettles, Vidalia, GA; Helen, Nettie, and Bethel Williams, Cullman, AL; Emma, Clark, Anne Frances, and James Ashley Atkinson, Tupelo, MS; Cody and wife Charlsa McGregor Waller, Kyle, and Lauren Waller, Kentwood; Tyler and Madison Guillory, Zachary; one great, great grandchild, Jayce Waller, Kentwood; and one sister-in-law, Fannie Strickland Waller, Kentwood. Preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Huey Elizabeth East Waller, parents, Jessie M. Waller, Sr. and Mamie Lambert Waller, two brothers, Jessie M. Waller, Jr. and Luther Waller, two sisters Doris Waller Tillery and Ester Waller Varnado, and two grandchildren, Ryan Kent Waller and Zachary Roth Waller. Delmas D. Bennett
(July 4, 1921 – May 12, 2012)
Departed this life Saturday, May 12, 2012 after a hospitalization at North Oaks Medical Center. Following the death of his wife, Willie Ruth, he decided to join her 27 days later, one day short of Mother’s Day. He is survived by daughters, Cheryl A. Bennett and Kathleen D. Bennett, Independence; son, the Honorable Bruce C. Bennett and his wife, Linda, Denham Springs; grandchildren, Preston E. Bennett and wife, April, Rebecca B. Smalley and husband, Chris, Brittney E. Bennett and Landon K. Watts; great-grandchildren, S. Christian Smalley, Jr. and Madison Smalley. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II serving in the Atlantic, Pacific and Caribbean theatres. A longtime resident of Metairie died peacefully on Saturday May 12, 2012 at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was born February 11, 1937 in New Orleans and was a native of the Chesbrough Community. He served in the U.S. Army and later retired from Boeing. He is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Simmons Robertson, sisters, Ruthie Cazaubon and Beth Simmons, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Gail” Sahuque Simmons, brothers, Raymond and Dorman Simmons, sisters, Maxie Hale and Elva Pulliam, parents, Jeff and Lessie Carter Simmons.
