(May 6, 1928 – April 17, 2012)
A resident of Franklinton, he died at 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton. He was born May 6, 1928 in Mt. Hermon and was 83 years of age. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Margie Forbes, Kirksville, MO and Betty Ann Chappell, Kansas City, MO; 4 sons, Cleve Edward Slaven, Mt. Hermon, Edward Arthur Slaven, Jr., Amite, Billy M. Slaven, Sr., Newberry, SC and Willis R. Slaven, Amite; 2 brothers, Bobby Slaven, Chatawa, MS and Billy Slaven, Amite; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Cleve and Carrie Slaven; daughter, Cathy Ables; 5 brothers and 3 sisters; 2 granddaughters; 1 great-grandson. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., Thursday, and from 8 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2012. Services conducted by Rev. Bob Simpson.
