Stan Simmons has lost two grandmothers on April 11th. On 4-11-09, Tommy’s mother passed away. On 4-11-11, Wanda’s mother passed away. Heaven is a happy reunion place for Stan’s grandmothers.
Jo Ann Leatherman Ponder

Jo Ann Leatherman Ponder passed away on April 11, 2011 in Orange, Tx. of natural causes. The Amite, La. resident was born on September 29, 1930 and was married to John David Ponder Sr. for 56 years. Jo Ann graduated from Amite High School and received her B.A. from Southeastern Louisiana University. She was retired from the State of Louisiana Department of Social Services. She was also an active member of the Amite-Arcola Presbyterian Church. She is survived by four children: Julie T. Ponder of Amite, Amos L. Ponder of Amite, Katy Ponder Taylor and husband, Mark, of Orange, Tx., and Phillip Ponder of Amite. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: David and Elena Walker, Julia Walker, John and Kim Bittola, Devin Walker, Tara Ponder, Mark Glen Taylor, Annmarie Taylor, and Matthew Taylor, and three grandchildren: David and Christopher Walker, and Charlotte Bittola. She was preceded in death by parents Warren B. and Josephine Votaw Leatherman, and two sons, John David Ponder Jr. and George W. L. Ponder. A viewing will be held on Thursday April 14, 2011 at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, LA from 12 noon to 2 p.m., followed by burial at Amite Cemetery.

His love of hunting, fishing, music, poetry, friends, and framily brought him great joy. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 6:00PM until 9:00PM, Wednesday, April 13, 2011, and from 8 a.m. until religious services at 11a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2011. Services conducted by Rev. Cary Modisett & Rev. Bill Galloway. Interment Hutchinson Cemetery, Kentwood, LA. Preceded in death by parents, Edgar Jesse McNabb and Helen Hutchinson Cossiboin, first wife, Margaret Klyce McNabb, brothers, Bobby Lee McNabb and Donald E. McNabb, faithful Australian Shepard, Rusty.
