Dorothy S. Hodges
(February 4, 1925 – March 11, 2011)

Mrs. Dorothy S. Hodges was born February 4, 1925 and passed away at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was 86, a native and a resident of Kentwood.

Mrs. Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Peggy Sue Hodges, Kentwood; 3 sons, Rodney Lane Hodges, Sr., Kentwood, Kenneth Ray Hodges, Kentwood, & John Wayne Hodges and wife, Lisa J., Kentwood; 6 grandchildren, Rodney Lane Hodges, Jr., Candace Hodges, Shelby Hodges, Jeremy Hodges & Dillon Hodges; 5 great-grandchildren, Austin Hodges, Abby Hodges, Adian Hodges, Chandler Graves & Reagan Graves; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Preceded in death by her husband, Ray R. Hodges; parents, Daniel Morgan and Esther Arnett Statham; sister, Mary Lou Magee; brother, Charles Statham.

Visitation at McKneely & Vaughn Funeral Home, Amite, on Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday, March 14, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until Celebration of Life Services at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home Chapel with Bro. Mason Miley and Bro. Otha Schillings officiating. Interment in Spring Creek Cemetery, Kentwood, LA.

 

Donald Ray Bates
(July 13, 1939 – March 11, 2011)

Mr. Bates was born on July 13, 1939 and passed away at 8:45 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the St. Helena Parish Nursing Home in Greensburg, LA. He was 71 years old and a native of Kentwood, LA. Mr. Bates is survived by his two sons, Chris Bates and wife Arlette, Kiln, MS and Glenn Bates and wife Dannielle, Picayune, MS; four grandchildren, Christian and Camden Bates and Abby and Macey Bates; two brothers, Arthur Bates, Jackson, MS and Hugh Bates and wife Amelia, Kentwood, LA; four sisters, Willie Belle Strickland, Osyka, MS; Avis Carmical and husband Russell, Jackson, MS; Sylvia Stielper and husband Rick, Baltimore, MD and Barbara Hall and husband Billy, Amite, LA; one brother-in-law, Terry Rushing, Greensburg, LA and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Bates was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Bertha Bates; one bother, Howard Bates; one sister, Shirley Rushing; two brothers-in-law, Johnny Strickland and Ricky Keith; one sister-in-law, Ann Bates; two nephews, John Allen Strickland and Patrick Christopher Bates; and the mother of his children, Joann Bates Whitfield.Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 10 a.m. Monday until religious services at 2 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2011. Interment Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood, LA.
