Anne M. Stevens died peacefully at Carpenter’s House in Baton Rouge on February 19, 2011. She was born in Algiers, Louisiana on January 13, 1922. She traveled to Amite at 15 for a summer visit and found the love of her life, Rufus Stevens. They married in 1944, and after WWII, lived the rest of their lives there. A retired banker and active in the community, she was fondly called “Miss Anne.” She is survived by one son, Dennis Stevens and wife, Connie, Prairieville, granddaughters Candace Urban and husband Blake of Prairieville, Holly Sanders and husband Aaron of Lake Jackson, TX, and Amanda Green and husband Robby of Katy, TX, a niece, Cordia Ziegler and great-nephew, Brett Ziegler. She was blessed with five great-grandchildren. Anne was preceded in death by her husband Rufus Stevens, parents Roy and Cordia Moore, stepmother Agnes Moore and sister Pearl Colomb. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 10 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2011. Services conducted by Rev. John Carrigan. Interment Amite Cemetery, Amite, LA.
