He left high school at the age of 17 to serve our country during World War II and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hamlin in the Pacific Ocean. When he returned from WWII he attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and received a degree in electrical engineering. All his life he was an active member of the Church of Christ. He helped to build four different church buildings, was an elder in the church, helped establish an annual “Crusade for Christ” meeting and always took an opportunity to talk to others about Christ. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lois Elayne Mayeux Russell; three daughters, Karen McGibboney and husband Pat McGibboney, Emily Hartman and husband Jack Hartman, and Linda Wascom and husband John Wascom; his brother, Cleo B. Special thanks to nephew Richard Pevey for time spent and the special interest he took in his “Uncle CB”. It meant so much to him.
