Wednesday

It is he who saved us and chose us for his holy work

not because we deserved it

but because that was his plan.

~2 Timothy 1:9 (LB)~

Don’t forget to pray for Jude Fowler today.  The family is counting on your prayers.

Please continue to pray for Micah Tolleson.  New developments seem to indicate the cancer is growing and the need for chemo and/or radiation.  The family requests your prayers.

TODAY’S PRAYER
IMB
JUNE 2, 2010

“You heard the voice of my supplications when I cried out to You.” (Psalm 31:22b)

WORLD LEADERS. “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for Prime Minister Donald Tusk of Poland (central Europe, east of Germany).

HAITI EARTHQUAKE. Tens of thousands of Haitian earthquake survivors continue to live in tent cities as they contemplate the certainty of torrential rains during the rainy season and potential hurricanes. Housing and substantial shelter are crucial to preserve lives. This is possible as God places this need in the hearts of His people and they respond to His voice. When a Baptist church in Tennessee heard the news of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, they began praying and seeking God’s will for ways they could respond to the crisis. God opened the door for them through the cooperative work of IMB missionaries and Global Baptist Response to establish a partnership between their church and the Petite Goave Baptist Church in Haiti. Pastor J has a burden for his church and the thousands left homeless in the community. Beginning in June, the Tennessee church will send teams to work in the Petite Goave community. Pray for these teams as they provide health care and construct temporary housing for the families with destroyed homes, and as they incorporate evangelism in their ministries. Just as God opened the door for this church to serve in Haiti, pray that Haitians in the Petite Goave community will respond to Jesus’ invitation: “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20, NIV).praying4haiti@mail.com

SHANGHAI, CHINA (SHAHNG-high). All eyes are on Shanghai, as the 2010 World Expo officially opened on May 1 and will continue through October 31. As many from the international community pour into this city and engage in prayer onsite, they have the opportunity to see God do great things! Join in asking that local churches throughout the city, as well as overseas churches, will adopt a university or college campus that has been identified as “unengaged and unreached.” There are currently more than 66 universities and colleges located on more than 100 campuses throughout the vast city. pray4shanghai@mail.com

Thank you for praying today!
