Robert Benton Stegall, Jr.
(June 28, 1955 – May 22, 2010)
A resident of Kentwood, died on Saturday, May 22, 2010 near Kentwood. He was born June 28, 1955 in Magnolia, MS and was 54 years of age. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a fifth grade teacher at Spring Creek Elementary. He was a devoted Christian, an ordained minister and lived his life as a soldier for Christ. He was an inspiration to his family and friends and will be terribly missed. He is survived by his wife, Melanie Chehardy Stegall, Kentwood; 4 daughters, Yvette Toponce, Los Angeles, CA, Hannah Marie Stegall, Lydia Grace Stegall and Sarah Elizabeth Stegall, all of Kentwood; mother, Willie Murl Welch, Greensburg; father, Robert Stegall, Sr., Wesson, MS; sister, Linda Hendry and her husband, Gary, Baton Rouge; granddaughter, Xia Toponce, Los Angeles, CA; 2 step-children, Chris Louviere, Brownwood, TX and Janine Villars, Ponchatoula; 2 nephews, Gary Hendry, Jr. and Michael Hendry. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Ginny Chehardy Stegall. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 2 p.m. until religious services at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Services conducted by Rev. A resident of Greensburg, died at 3 a.m. on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Baton Rouge General Medical Center Mid City in Baton Rouge. She was born March 20, 1934 in Kokomo, MS and was 76 years of age. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Fran Snoddy and husband, Phillip Snoddy, Grangeville, Edna Marie Wall and husband, Maurice Wall, Greensburg and Shirley Ann Miller, Grangeville; a son, Theodore Edward Miller and wife, Dorothy Mae Miller, Denham Springs; 9 grandchildren, Andrew Jones, Jr., Amanda R. Dawkins, Abigail Elizabeth Jones, Alisha Marie Wood, Rev. William H. Wall, Rev. Derek A. Wall, Mark Wall, Nathan Snoddy and Parnessa Herring; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Martin, Columbia, MS; 2 brothers, Ecclus McAllister, Columbia, MS and John McAllister, Columbia, MS. Preceded in death by her husband, Henry T. “Popeye” Miller; parents, Jim and Myrtis McAllister; grandson, Daniel Snoddy; 3 sisters, Leane Britt, Loyce Tullos and Dezlee Kimble; 2 brothers, L.C.
