Friday Afternoon

Pray for Adrianna Cavanaugh and her family.  It seems she will soon be moving from Franklinton to Heaven.  Your prayers will mean so much to the family.

Message from Mrs. Ann Chapman

Dear family & friends,
God has once again been mercyful to me. The neck brace was removed yesterday. I am totally healed! I have been discharged from all my doctors! No therapy is needed! How amazing, how awesome is that? This has been a long journey, 5 1/2 months, but I have seen God’s mighty power at work. I am no exception, always remember HE LOVES YOU!!!
My neck is very stiff, but the doctor said the muscles will loosen up as I move around. Krisa (Deloy’s wife) is a therapist and she has some stretches for me to do daily. So with time I should be as good as new. How GREAT is our God!!!
Please accept my deep appreciation for all of your prayers. God has heard our outcry. Thank you! Thank you! Our family is trying to get our lives back together again. With our sweet Jesus’ help we will make it. May God bless each of you.
Don’t forget I still like company, so call and come see me.
My love,
Ann

Pray for wisdom for a Southern Baptist assessment team going into Haiti as quickly as possible to coordinate relief efforts with Haitian Baptist leaders. Continue to pray for earthquake victims and their families, for God’s mercy and compassion and that many will turn to Him in their hour of need.

TODAY’S PRAYER
IMB
JANUARY 15, 2010

“This poor man cried out,

and the Lord heard him

and saved him out of all his troubles.”

(Psalm 34:6a)

HAITI. “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust’” (Psalm 91:1-2, NKJV). With the devastating situation in neighboring Haiti, personnel in the Dominican Republic have requested help in post-trauma counseling and training in the area of spiritual support. Since this is such a critical need in Haiti, training will be held next week in the Dominican Republic. Please pray for the trainers as they travel and prepare the materials for the conference. Ask God for the emotional health of personnel as they confront the dire needs. Pray also for those who will receive counseling and training as they share God’s love with a nation that is in deep spiritual darkness.
WORLD LEADERS. “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for Prime Minister Paul Biyoghe Mba of Gabon (western equatorial Africa).
CITY ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF THE RIVER, CHINA. The Chinese student for whom you have been praying is feeling better about his role as leader of the two groups. In the last couple of months, he has persuaded a couple of new believers to stop going to a meeting of a cult, dealt successfully with a disruptive church member, and been able to work around a quarantine on one of the college campuses because of the H1N1 virus. He has needed help through these challenges, but thank the Lord that he continues to persevere.
SENEGAL. Thousands of West Africans manage to make their way to European countries every year to find work. In one major European city, Baptist colleagues continue to minister to a large number of Fulani and Soninke who come from the countries of Senegal, Mauritania and Mali. Volunteers have partnered with these colleagues to address physical needs, hand out copies of the “JESUS” film in African languages, and share their testimonies. Colleagues have even traveled to West African countries to visit home villages of their West African friends in order to better understand the culture that has shaped their lives. In January, these colleagues will make a trip to Senegal along with a couple of their African friends to one of these home villages to bring a volunteer team of doctors, nurses and others to minister to physical needs. Pray that the healing and compassion they bring will point to a loving God. May all the ways they seek to witness to those who come to the clinics–whether it be through the medical services, prayers, witness given, Bible stories, tapes being played, physical work done, or other acts of compassion–bring lost people into a right relationship with the Father. Pray that the lost ones will have an understanding of the things they hear and that their hearts will continue to be stirred to learn more.
