U.S. Veteran Douglas J. Hayden a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother was born on September 27, 1937 and passed away at 9:50 p.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was 72, a native and resident of Amite.Mr. Douglas is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Harris Hayden, Amite; 3 daughters, Debra Hayden Jenkins, Loranger, Mary Hayden LaMarca and husband Lance, Independence, and Laurie Hayden Price and husband Mike, Mansfield; 2 sisters, Frances Hayden Nix and Claire Wooley, AR, ; 3 brothers, Danny and Tommy Hayden , Amite, Vic Hayden, Independence;6 Granddaughters, Stephanie Hoffman Morel and husband Justin, Lindsay Lamarca, Alison Jenkins, Sarah Jenkins, Morgan Price and Haylee Price; 1 great-granddaughter, Jenna Morel. Preceded in death by his parents, Mary Brown Hayden and TJ Hayden; 1 brother, Billy Hayden.

Visitation will be at McKneely & Vaughn Funeral Home, Amite, on Friday, January 15, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until Religious Services at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Burdette Thomas officiating. Interment in the Bankston Cemetery, Amite, LA.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to Shady Grove Baptist Church, % Bro. Burdette Thomas, 48178 Norman McCain Rd., Franklinton, LA 70438
