Mrs. Ona M. Gill Schillings, a very devoted Christian wife & mother was born on November 26, 1914 and passed away at 7:50PM, Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Hood Memorial Hospital. She was 93, a native of Spring Creek and a resident of Kentwood. Mrs. Ona was the daughter of the late Huey Gill & Myrtis Simmons Gill. She is survived by her daughter: Glenda Schillings, Kentwood; a sister: Ozell Fairburn, Kentwood; 2 special nieces and also her caregivers; Linda Breeland, Amite & Ivy Womack, Kentwood; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceded in death by: parents, Huey and Myrtis Simmons Gill, husband of 63 years, Hillery Schillings, infant daughter Linda Schillings, 4 sisters, O.V. Kennedy, Merlie Varnado, Chloie Bateman, and Mavis Ditto: 2 brothers, Gilmon H. Gill and Curtis W. Gill.
Mrs. Ona was a lifelong member of Spring Creek Baptist Church for 60 + years.
Dear Mom & Dad, It has truly been a precious gift straight from God to be able to take care of the both of you. It’s been a wonderful time, something I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. Love, Glenda
Visitation will be at Spring Creek Baptist Church after 9:30AM on Saturday, November 1,2008, until Religious Services at 1:00PM with Dr. Danny Smith officiating. Interment in the Spring Creek Cemetery.

She was born on Tuesday, October 13, 1953, in Hammond, daughter of Harold Benton Newman and Bonnie Sue Alford Newman. She was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Randy Brown; daughter, Rebecca Brown Stewart; granddaughter, Keeley Sue Stewart; sister, Kay N. Ott; 2 brothers, Keith and Matt Newman. She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Bessie and Bill Alford; and paternal grandparents, Anita and Shelby Newman.
