Died at 5:06AM on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, LA. He was a native of Amite, LA and a resident of Roseland, LA. Age 76 years. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday and at Kedron Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Friday. Services conducted by Rev. Herb Cowan and Rev. Norman Nowell. Interment Kedron Cemetery, Amite, LA. Survived by his daughter, Richelle Smart and husband, Dale, Roseland, 2 sons, Ray Sharkey and wife, Clara, Tickfaw and Rex Sharkey and wife, Sheila, Waynesboro, MS, 5 grandchildren, Logan, Dakota and Cassidy Smart and Colton and Savannah Sharkey, 2 sisters, Wanzie Williams and husband, J. L., Kentwood and Julie Kay Frazier and husband, Roy, Baton Rouge, 2 brothers, Bobby Sharkey and wife, Vicki, Amite and Harrell Sharkey and wife, Susie, Tangipahoa, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Nowell Sharkey, parents, Felix and Daisy Sharkey.
