National Day of Prayer – May 2, 2013

Most towns are having special services at midday tomorrow.  Kentwood will be having one that evening.  Check for the services in your area and attend or at least stop and pray for our country tomorrow.

“So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?

And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?

No one can serve two masters.

Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other.

You cannot serve both God and money.”

~Luke 16:11-13 CEV~

For those of you who have heard of the gas explosion in Prague and thought about our family there, Jennie send an email saying they are fine.  Thanks about your concern for our family.

Mrs. Mary Womack was able to be in church yesterday.  Thank God for her improvement.

The “Young” Ladies’ Birthday Party will be at Nyla’s tomorrow at 11 A.M.  Birthdays being celebrated are: Mrs. Othell Williams, Mrs. Catherine Yarborough, Mrs. Gail Brister, Mrs. Shirley Frazier, Mrs. Pat Gill, Mrs. Annnie Bell Harrell, Mrs. Julia Forrest, Mrs. Virginia McKenzie, and Mrs. Mary Womack.  Thank God for each of these “young” ladies.

We have several friends in Ponchatoula who are siblings.  Their mother, Mrs. Pevey, passed from this earth yesterday.  The faith of the family members is a strong testament of their mother’s faith.  Thank God for Christian mothers!  Thank God for the Christian influence of the next generation.

“Reaching out to West, Texas” – Rapid Response Team of Billy Graham Association –  Watch, pray, and give if God lead you to do so.

Thanking God, today, for friends, both old and new!  They have surely blessed out lives.  May we, in turn, be a blessing to others!

“Come to Me,

all of you who are weary and burdened,

and I will give you rest.”

~Matthew 11:28~

Susan of Lara’s Gowns for Smiles shared this about her granddaughter who is sick.

UPDATE on LARA GRACE: Please Pray for Lara Grace, and her parents!!
From Nikki: News from Ortho…It seems that her bone is not healing as well as it should because of the chemo. Apparently after the chemo          is finished, and her body recovers, he will go back in AGAIN to remove her hardware. ANOTHER body cast will most likely be needed 😦 We will be back to square one with physical therapy and recovery.)

Susan completed hundreds of gowns for children such as Lara.  We can support Susan and Lara with our prayers.  We can also support her ministry, Lara’s Gowns for Smiles, with fabric or with money for fabric to make hospital gowns for children.  If you get your donations to me or to FBC, Kentwood, I will personally hand deliver to Susan.  In the meantime, pray for Lara and her family.

Zach Morgan will be closing out his campaign, Zach’s Lidz for Kidz, in about a month.  If you want to contribute hats for sick boys and girls or funds to make purchases, please get them to me or to FBC, Kentwood.  I will also make this delivery.

Becky R. Gabriel is a little better.  Continue to pray for her.  Your prayers are greatly appreciated.

Shelton Day is recovering nicely from him bypass surgery, even if it is not quickly enough.  Pray that he gets the healing time he need before trying to get back to his regular routine.

Please continue to pray for the people in Boston and in West, Texas.

Robert Callihan continues to recover nicely, but is dealing with pain.  Say some special prayers for him, please.

Bro. Byrum Humphrey of Roseland Baptist Church is in North Oaks with an infection in his face.  Pray he can quickly recover and return to his family and church responsibilities.

“But I count my life of no value to myself,

so that I may finish my course and the ministry I received from the Lord Jesus,

to testify to the gospel of God’s grace.”

My heart is broken about the death of another former student.  I’ll not post a name yet, but will later.  I’ll miss his big hugs!
