Wednesday

“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy,

for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now.”

~Philippians 1:3-5~

Please begin to pray for those who live in areas that are flooding.  Some people had to leave their homes during the night.  Now, they are wondering what is happening there.  Pray for peace for them and the assurance that their family is safe even if their home is now.

Mrs. Magdalene Ford’s surgery went well.  She should be home in about a week.

Mrs. Linda B. Williams is home with her new pacemaker.  She is thankful her problem was found and taken care of.

Pray for Ruby Schwartz as she undergoes tests to determine what needs to be done to help her.

Pray for all the people who continue to have colds, coughs, flu, and bronchitis.  All these seem to have hit hard in our area.  Many people think they are better and then relapse.

Dan Turner continues to improve.  Yesterday, he took a wheelchair ride to the area where the helicopters land and take off – the area where he got on those helicopters to help people who needed emergency care.  That should have been fantastic motivation for him to get better.

Pray for the Houeye and Miller families as they bury loved ones on this rainy day.

Don’t let the rain get you depressed.  Think of something you can do to encourage someone else .  You can call a neighbor, bake something to share, check on someone who is hospitalized, etc.

Tuesday

“God has given gifts to each of you from his great variety of spiritual gifts.

Manage them well so that God’s generosity can flow through you….

Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies.

Then God will be given glory.”

~1 Peter 4:10-11 NLT~

Linda B. Willians’ pacemaker is giving her assurance of help when her heart periodically takes a rest.  She did well with surgery and should be at home some time today.  Thank God the doctors were able to determine her problem and fix it.

Dickey Sitman has been hospitalized at North Oaks for a couple days undergoing tests.  Pray the doctors can quickly asses the need and “fix” it.

Mrs. Magdalene Ford of Roseland is having surgery at Cypress Point today.  Then, she should be there for the better part ofr a week.  Pray for her family as they wait through the surgery today and for the doctors as they make decisions about her care.

Today, at 11:00, there will be an informal luncheon for the Councils who will be leaving our area to leave near their daughter.  Pray for them as they make this move and adjust to a new life in South Carolina.

January 26 is the date for a women’s retreat at FBC, Kentwood.  I asked some questions and did some research so I could supply answers to questions from ladies in our area.  The speaker will be Rochelle Frazier of Magnolia.  She is about 40 and has been through many trials in life.  Through it all, she has learned to depend on God.  You can read more about her and her books at http://www.hegavemepearls.com/.

I’m enjoying my 90 reading of the Bible so much that I am reading ahead a little.  The assigned passage for Day 6 is Exodus 15:19 – 28:43.  I hope some of you are enjoying this study with me.

Sunday

“When I refused to confess my sin, I was weak and miserable, and I groaned all day long .…

My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat.

Finally I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide them .…

And you forgave me!

All my guilt is gone.”

  Psalm 32: 3-5 (NLT)

Mr. Kenneth Felker said “Miss” Grace Helen is hospitalized in Greensburg.  She has be hospitalized over and over.  Pray she will get better.

Ladd Turner’s last two updates on Dan Turner

  • Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. (Psalm 119:105 NIV)

Father God, thank you for your Word. Thank you for lighting the way for me, Lord. Father, I pray that others would seek your face and know you as I have come to know you. Father, thank you for this day. Thank you for such a wonderful visit with Dan Turner yesterday. Lord, thank you for gifting Dan with a strong will. Thank you for his desire to rise up! Father, I pray that you continue to heal Dan. The distance he has come in a short amount of time is a testament to your love and healing power. You are the master physician! Father, I pray that you would invigorate Dan with your physical strength. Father God, I love and praise you for all that you have done and are yet to do. I pray these things in the precious name of Jesus. Amen!!

  • “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” For “you were like sheep going astray,” but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. (1 Peter 2:24, 25 NIV)

Father God, thank you for your Son, Jesus. Lord Jesus, thank you for your sacrifice so that your wounds would heal us from our sin. Father God, thank you for the closeness that we can have with you because of Jesus. Lord, thank you for the good visits with Dan Turner. Thank you for his determination and desire to overcome. Lord, please continue to heal him as you have so graciously done already. Lord, thank you for all of Dan’s doctors and nurses and for the gift of healing that you’ve given all of them. Lord, I praise you! It’s in the precious name of Jesus that I pray. Amen!!
