Thankfulness: Day 9

Today, I’m thankful for friends – childhood friends, co-workers, former teachers, former students, church friends, neighborhood friends, etc.  Each of you have a special place in my heart.  You help to make me who I am and are there for me when I “need a friend”.  I hope I have been as good of a friend to you as you have been to me.

Thursday Afternoon

I hope you have been working on your Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes.  If not, it is not too late to start.

From Frances Gay

Charles Houeye is in North Oaks since last week sometime. After a spinal tap they discovered that he has meningitis, possibly from a steroid injection given last month. He has been talking out of his head for over a week. Bea was really upset when he didn’t even know who she was. Please put him on the prayer list and his family.

work at it with all your heart,

Thanksgiving: Day 8

Today, I am thankful God allowed me to be born into my family where I was loved, guided, and cared for each and every day.  I’m thankful for the role the extended family played in my life.  During the past year, I have enjoyed helping to care of my daddy (who is still very independent) and learning more about his life.  I appreciated his simple ways of saying he appreciates what I do for him.  We have been close for many years, but we are closer now.  I think of this relationship as a great blessing!

Keep on praying for America.

Thankfulness: Day 7

I’m thankful for six precious grandchildren.  Each one is unique and special in their own way.  They have my heart and represent the future of my family.  I’m thankful for the values they have already learned and expect all six to be well-balanced mature adults who will help make the world a better place.  I’m thankful for the firm foundation they have that will guide them as they mature.  Oh, how I love them!  I trust each of you to love your grandchildren just as much as I do mine.  As I pray for my grandchildren, I will also pray for all the other grandchildren, not by name, but as a group.  May they all be part of making this world better and staking out a home in eternity for themselves and others.

I hope you are counting your blessing this month.  Use a journal or whatever method works best for you, but count them.  You’ll find how blessed you really are.

Tuesday Addition

Mr. Edward Bridges had a heart attack last week.  Please be in prayer for him and his family.

Thankfulness: Day 6

I’m thankful for my daughter-in-law.  She is a devoted wife to my son and mother to two of my grandchildren.  She makes friends easily, so she has many of them in Louisiana and in Georgia.  Four days each week she works from the time she delivers her children to school to the time she picks them up from school as the administrative assistant for the worship leader of her church.  She has a beautiful voice and loves singing in the church choir and volunteers for other responsibilities.   She easily hosts large groups in her home and treats them to her Louisiana foods and cooking skills.  To show you how thoughtful she is, a couple weeks after Momma passed away last year I received a computer generated photo album of Momma from her recent years.  How I treasure that little book and the daughter-in-law who prepared it for me to treasure!
