Update from Velta Morris
UPDATE ON MY JOURNEY WITH LYMPHOMA
Hi, my friends and family,
As promised, I want to give an update on my treatment plan and let you know how things are going. I have several praises to share with you:
· Last Friday I had a PET scan to see how I was responding to the chemo. The results were really good and confirmed that it was doing what it is supposed to do and shrinking the particular spot that had become aggressive;
Thank you so much for all the love and prayers. Dr. Burgess acknowledged the importance of prayer today. I’m so thankful he is a Christian. Please keep praying. I love you all and am so very grateful to the Lord for blessing me so richly with each of you.
PS: I thought y’all might like to see my new hairdo, especially all of you who live way off. Everyone has been so kind, and act like they are really fooled. My wig is my new best friend! Sure saves time getting ready! (The framed photo above me is my engagement picture from early 1961 that recently surfaced when cleaning out a closet. I’m sure I don’t look a day older. Yeah, right!)

Tomorrow is the date for the next Third Thursday meeting at the cabin. People who missed the last ones tell me what sweet times others have told them they missed. It’s true! Join us at 6:30. The music has been so touching. The devotionals were inspiring. The food was delicious and plentiful.
Bro. Joey asked me to let people of FBC, Kentwood know the three new deacons who will be voted on Sunday are Frank Fowler, Ladd Turner, and Lionel Eastay. The ordination service for those approved will be the first Sunday of November.
God wants to bless your life today. Be aware of His blessing on you and yours today.

Mrs. Barbara Hutchinson called to request prayer for Mrs. Bea Miller, grandmother of Heather Brown O’Quin. Mrs. Miller is in ICU at McComb with a perforated stomach. Please take time to pray for this family.

you won’t be faithful in large ones.
If you cheat even a little,
you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.”

servants “do it with all their heart”.

Heart to Heart with Holley: Favorite Family Things
http://holleygerth.com/favorite-family-things/#comments
Today, let’s focus our prayers on all the unspoken requests around us – those we can’t repeat, those I cannot write here, those close to our heart anyway.
Pray for the Dykes family as they go to McKneely’s to make final arrangements for Phil. Pray God will give them strength to get through the third immediate family death in six months.
Pray for Reesa Birch DeLee and her mother, Nancy Birch, as they prepare to travel to New York tomorrow to begin treatment of Reesa’s newly diagnosed cancer. As you pray for them, pray for the many family members and friends back in Louisiana who will be very concerned about Reesa.
This week we have a Third Thursday. That means we will meet at the cabin with other Christians to eat, share, worship, and enjoy our friendships, both old and new. We meet at 6:30. Contact me if you need more information.
Deana Simmons was headed to McComb to get her mother, Mrs. Robert Pots, from Southwest and to bring her south. She has been cleared to come home.
Please don’t forget to pray for the Blackwells today.
We are all creatures of habit. At church this morning, Philip Dykes‘ place at the end of “our” pew was left empty. His “absence” was certainly felt. This was not planned, but seemed to be an act of honor for someone who was faithfully present at church. Please take some time today to pray for his family.
“Live a life of love,
just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
~Ephesians 5:2 NIV~
I keep thinking of how much Phil Cole Dykes will be missed. One of his sisters, Faye, said arrangements will be made Monday morning. I’ll post them at that time.
