Saturday

From the Sunday School lesson last week:

“But when he, the Spirit of truth,

comes, he will guide you into all the truth.

He will not speak on his own;

he will speak only what he hears,

and he will tell you what is yet to come.”

~John 16:13 NIV~

I’m thankful for rain.  We have had a good, soaking rain for two days now.  According to the weather report I read, we may get more rain in the next few days.

Jason and Ellen VandeVuss have made it back to the states.  I’m thankful for their willingness to go and tell.

Our Jason and Becki (and Mojo, the dog) ate on the way home.  I’m thankful for their brief visit and for Braden and Peyton getting to stay a few extra days.  I’m thankful for new memories!

Becki mom, Donna Robinson of Gonzales, visited the hospital for a while yesterday.  Thankfully, they only determined she was dehydrated.  She back home again.

Daddy, Grant Smith, enjoyed seeing my company yesterday.  I enjoyed him being here and getting to watch him eat fresh fish that the family caught yesterday morning.

Everyone’s life and experiences are different.  What part(s) of you little would are you thankful for this morning?

I thankful for Christian writes like Holley Garth who can express their thanks to God so well.

Fourth of July

“On this Independence Day I am reminded of all those who have sacrificed for my freedom. Let me not take my freedom, both physical and spiritual, for granted. May I always remember that my freedoms cost others their very lives. Lord, today, bless those who serve and continue to place themselves in harm’s way for my freedom. With favor and bounty meet their needs and watch over their families. This I pray in Christ’s name, amen.”                                                                                                                                P0sted by Compassion Net of SBC

Pray for my friend Larry Bankston today.  Pray for him to have strength as Marsha is sleeping a lot.

Tuesday

“Call to Me, and I will answer you,

and show you great and mighty things,

which you do not know.”

~Jeremiah 33:3~

Pray for Mrs. Martina Hall, wife of Mr. Lee Hall of Arcola.  She’s been sick and hospitalized.

Larry Bankston went to the wake for Judy H. Pritchett.  He is so devoted to Marsha, he has hardly left her side in the last few months.  He has begun to post an update on her.  Keep both of them in your prayers.

Pray for the many families who are grieving.  There have been lots of deaths lately.

Pray for families as they gather for the holiday.  First, pray they recognize the value of being born an America.  What a blessing that is!  Next, pray for families as they meet together, that bond of love will be strengthened.  Also, pray for traveling safety as many will be on the highways.  Happy Fourth of July, but remember to teach the children it is not a focus on cooking outdoors and watermelon.

I hope you can find some time to read Baptist Press today.  You will be blessed by being informed.

Monday

“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, . . .

being confident of this very thing,

that He who has begun a good work in you

will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

~Philippians 1:3-6~

Marsha Bankston – God is not finished with her yet!  This is what I told her in Ochsner.  It’s still true.  We have lessons to learn from her still.

Mr. Gordon Price is ill again.  Please add him to your prayer list again.

Frank Smith’s mother, Verla Smith from Brookhaven, spent the night in the hospital to get medication to fight an infection.  Pray that heals up quickly so she can go home again.

A friend and her young daughter are headed out on a mission trip.  Please be in prayer for them.

Prayer Partners,

Thank you for your commitment to pray for our team while we serve in Ethiopia. . . We trust that the Lord has big plans for this small team, knowing that Job 42:2 says that “He can do all things and that no plan of His will be thwarted!” We are planning to lead the sponsored kids in a summer camp, but we also may be used to help with some construction that is going on around the shelter and Great Hope Church. We are all ready to be flexible and an encouragement to our friends on the ground in Ethiopia.

. . . Here are our requests:
Pray that we will honor God with our attitudes, speech and actions. Romans 6:18 “You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.”

Pray that as a team we are an encouragement and a help to the Project 61 ministry. 2 Cor. 2:14 “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place.”

Pray that as we step foot into Korah, and our surrounded by crowds, that the Holy Spirit will impress upon us the heart and mind of God for His people. Romans 8:27 “And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.”

Pray that we will listen and respond to the Holy Spirit and will have discernment to know His timing. James 1:19 “My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,”

Pray for the health of our team members as we travel and on the ground. We have both been fighting a cold and cough the past week or two. We need to be healthy before we leave.

Pray for our families that will be “holding down the fort” while we are away. Pray for them to have fresh strength each day and joy in serving the Lord from this side of the world. Lamentations 3:23 “Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

Pray for favor with the airlines and immigration/customs officials. Proverbs 3:3-4 “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.”

. . . Thank you for praying fervently for us. Prayer is where the “real” work of missions is found. We take your job as prayer partners very seriously and are so grateful for you.
The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. James 5:16

Blessings,
Sabrina and Hannah

I heard wonderful reports from mission teams and VBS groups yesterday.  May God bless the same types of efforts this week.
