Sunday Afternoon Addition

Charles Ray Bennett called to tell me his mother, “Miss” Elizabeth, just passed way peacefully surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He said the wake would be Tuesday night at the Arcola Baptist Church with the funeral Wednesday morning.  He said his mother was now with his daddy who passed away forty-nine years ago.  I clearly remember that day when his military plane went down with all lost with it.  “Miss” Elizabeth worked hard to raise those five children alone.  Please pray for this family.

Sunday Afternoon

A few requests for you this afternoon:

  • Lindsey Booty, brother of Betty Simpson, has shingles on his face.  Betty requests prayers for him.
  • Mr. Butch Miller is still hospitalized in Hammond and would be appreciative of your prayers.
  • Mrs. Hazel Smith said her granddaughter, Angela Bridges, is probably doing too much.  Pray she will soon get over the complications she is experiencing.  Little Adrian is doing okay, but has a long ways to go before he can come home.  Please keep this family in your prayers.
  • Mrs. Elisabeth Bethel Bennett of Roseland is not doing well.  Her family is by her side.  Pray for peace and comfort for her as well as for her large family.

Sunday

“His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family

by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ.

And this gave him great pleasure.”

~Ephesians 1:5 NLT~

The Lord has done it this very day;
let us rejoice today and be glad.

9.  God won’t ask what your job title was, but will ask if you performed your job to the best of your ability.

Saturday Evening

Please add my great nephew Chandler to the prayer list. He’s 10 years old and having kidney failure, and in intensive care at Lady Of The Lake. Also please add Paul Wayne Little. He’s also having kidney problems, plus other issues. He’s in Lakeview. Thanks , Lloyd (Hayden)

Also, please continue to pray for Danny Horne as he tries to overcome his heart attack and secondary issues.

At our Third Thursday meeting this week, James Rimes shared that a couple of people said they had no fear of dying and were ready for death.  Knowing how fragil life can be, Christians are only a breath away from Heaven.  Little did any of us know that in less than six hours in a movie theater in Colorado, lives would be taken and those people would face their eternity.  I pray they were ready!  I pray you are too!

Saturday Addition

Hannah Kay Cash was born to Elizabeth (Hughes) and Shanne Cash this morning.  Pray for this young, growing family.

I forgot to give you the next three of “15 Things God Won’t Ask”.  Here they are:

4. God won’t ask about your social status, but will ask what kind of class you displayed.

5. God won’t ask how many material possessions you had, but will ask if they dictated your life.

6.  God won’t ask what your highest salary was, but will ask if you compromised your character to obtain that salary.

Saturday

“By the grace of God I am what I am,

and his grace to me was not without effect.

No, I worked harder than all of them—

yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.”

Friday

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.”

~Romans 8:1-2 NIV~

Marsha Chambers Bankston now has hospice care.  Pray she is comfortable.  Pray for Larry and the boys too.

Angela and Little Adrian are both doing better.  Keep them on your prayer list for now.  Adrian has a long hospital stay ahead of him.

Danny Rae Horne is in ICU at North Oaks.  Keep him in your prayers.

Jimmy Schwartz is undergoing tests at North Oaks to see if a different problem can be located.  Keep praying for him.

Rain didn’t stop a great Third Thursday night at the cabin.  James shared through music and word.  Sherman Cutrer came to back James up on the mandelin.  We were all blessed.

James Rimes shared “15 Things God Won’t Ask” (no author listed on the paper).  I will share three a day so you can slowly let them soak in.

#1.  God won’t ask what kind of car you drive, but will ask how many people you drove who didn’t have transportation.

#2.  God won’t ask the square footage of your house, but will ask how many people you welcomed into your home.

#3.  God won’t ask about the fancy clothes you had in your closet, but will ask how many of those clothes helped the needy.

The quarterly WMU meeting will be this morning at New Zion Baptist Church.  I trust I will see some of you at 10:00.

Baptist Press has great articles again.
