Please pray for all those facing potential and actual flooding of their home and other property. All that rain is going to make it way to the Gulf eventually.
Continue to pray for our military serving around the world. Thank God for all who have volunteered to serve to protect freedom.
Remember those who will be graduating from high school or college and facing the job market or continuing their education.
THE TROUBLE WITH BRAGGING
A North Carolina farmer was talking to a Texas rancher. The Texas rancher was bragging that his spread was soooooo big, that he got in his pick-up in the morning and didn’t reach the end of his spread until nightfall.
The North Carolina farmer replied, “Yup, I had me a pick-up like that once.”
That’s the trouble with bragging — no one seems to appreciate it as much as we do! But how will everyone know how important we are unless we tell them? So we tend to focus on ourselves — we talk about what we have accomplished, we talk about who we know, we talk about what we have just bought.
Can I offer a suggestion? Just for today, forget about yourself and focus on someone else. Take an interest in what someone else has accomplished, or better yet, take an interest in a problem that someone else is experiencing.
“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 2:3-5).
But, if you do this, won’t others fail to realize just how important you are? Perhaps. But, more likely, they’ll recognize true greatness in your humility.

I made a mistake. Marty’s hand surgery is next Wednesday, not yesterday. That gives us another week to pray for him.
We took Micah to Children’s Hospital today (5-4-11) for his yearly check up, we are still getting good news and all is well. We go back next year.

We are sending paper plates, cups, disposable forks, knives, spoons, toilet tissue, paper towels, napkins, diapers, baby wipes. Continue to pray for the tornado victims and celebrate all the reports of how God carried them through what could have been fatal to them. Also, add those who are doing disaster relief. Pray for their safety and for them to be good witnesses for God as they labor among those who have suffered great losses.

Dear Intercessors, this is Eleanor Witcher of the Office of Global Prayer Strategy, asking you to pray for women who are studying the Word of God.
Young women in Cambodia who study at university often face more pressure than their male counterparts. They maintain their family’s housework and are more limited in their mobility around the city, leaving them less available to spend time with friends. These factors make it difficult for women to spend time in Bible study or to attend a church. Pray for the wisdom and creativity of a young local church that is trying to reach these women.
One woman visiting a Last Frontier location has diligently been studying God’s story-telling. She is growing well in His Word and is ready to share very carefully when she goes back to her hometown. Especially pray that her memory will be strong so that she can remember all she has learned.
David and Tina Taylor, Baptist representatives serving in Hungary, ask for prayers for two groups that have started meeting in their home. One group is a women’s Bible study. Please pray for those who have attended, asking that they will continue to come and hear the Gospel and see their need to turn to Jesus. The other group consists of teenagers. Pray for them as they discover the Bible together. Many of these teenagers have never read the Bible before and are very confused about life, and many come from broken homes. Pray that as they read and hear, they will see that there is One who loves them more than anyone else. Pray that they will see Jesus.

*Pray that the passion for Christ among international and national Christians will remain high.

When I posted Monday that the internet had been down, that was in Georgia. Except for the homes with trees down, many on houses, Jason’s neighborhood was getting back to normal. There is so much damage across several states. You can ride down the interstate with everything looking normal and suddenly you are in an area where there is a lot of destruction. One advantage the people have is that the pockets of destruction are surrounded by large areas of normality. That means food, water, gas, etc. that was so limited here after Katrina is available there. Take advantage of the method(s) of helping others that fits you and your schedule |
Through Facebook, I have been in contact with several former staff members originally from Alabama who are there now and helping in the recovery effort. I thank God for their willing hands and tender hearts. They said “There are no words…”!

David and I saw some of the tornado damage even though that was not the purpose of our trip to Georgia. Please pray for the people in the areas where there was damage/total. My brother-in-law’s family is getting a load of supplies to send to northern Alabama. This is a post from my sister in case you would like to contribute.
Jadon’s Story: Home
We made it home from the hospital. I was so ready to leave. I kept saying bye bye bye most of the day. After the nurse took my IV out, I started clapping and laughing. My test results came back today. I do not have mono. Praise the Lord!!!! I do have adenovirus. Adenovirus effects the respiratory system. In adults its like a common cold but it can make babies very sick. The virus also caused me to get ear infections in both ears and a throat infection. They gave me antibiotics through IV today and then I got to come home. I’m much better today. I ate 3 meals today. I’m playing on the floor. It’s amazing how much I perked up throughout the day. The doctors said it will take about a week for me to get all my strength back. Thanks for praying for me. I know your prayers helped me get better so quickly. Oh and just so you know. My seizures have been awful. They always get bad when I’m sick but they were so strong this time. They are also much better today. In fact when I woke up from my nap this afternoon, I didn’t have any. So we are praying that I continue to get better and that my seizures continue to get better too!!

I can’t tell you how much of a blessing Jadon has been to me and my family. He has taught us so much about just what is important in this life. I’m so glad that I’m able to share this little miracle that God has sent us with you all. Thank you all so much for praying for him and my family. God is truly blessing my family through this difficult time in our life. We can’t wait to see what He is going to continue to do in Jadon’s life 🙂

Last night I had the priviledge to witness God at work. I attended a family night church celebration that started with the dedication of four babies. Then, seventeen people of all ages were baptized. That was followed by the Lord’s Supper. That was such a meaningful servce, especially since my granddaughter, Peyton, was one of the seventeen being baptized.
David and I saw some tornado damage and hear both good and sad stories about the weather. Pray for the areas that had a lot of damage and loss of lives. Pray for all the lives that are changed forever. Pray for disaster relief workers who will minister to physical and spiritual needs.
Jadon’s Story: Hospital update
I’m sad to say that I have been admitted to the hospital. We are at St. Tammany in the peds unit. I got really sick Saturday morning. My mommy called my pediatrician. She sent us to lake after hours. They said my ears and throat were clear and they ruled it a virus. They said if I didn’t get any better to go to the ER. I continued to get worse throughout the day. We talked to the pediatrician again and she said to go to the ER. The main reason she wanted us to go was because of the side effects of the lamictal and dehydration. We got to the ER around 530 pm and I didn’t get to my room until 12 am. It was a very long night. They tested me for flu, strep, and did a CBC. Everything came back negative. They said that it’s not anything to do with the lamictal. My blood work showed that my white blood count is up. Right now they are giving me IV fluids since I’m not eating or drinking. I was dehydrated when we got here last night. The doctor came in this morning and said my throat was full of pus. How lake after hours missed that and the ER doctor is beyond me. They retested me for strep and it came back negative. They are now testing me for mono and adenovirus. We will not know any of these results until tomorrow. I will be staying another night. Please pray that I get better soon!!!!
