Wednesday

“. . . The urgent request of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.”

~James 5:16, HCSB~

The last I heard from Kayla Johnson was that she was doing well.  She is not expected to have any future problems.  After spending the night, she is expected to come home today.

Pray for Rufus and Margie Williams.  He’s at the Heart Hospital in LaComb to complete the procedure of taking care of his blockages.

Thanks to all who contributed shoes for Re-Store in Amite.  Even though our official shoe drive is over, shoes can be brought to the church at any time and placed in or near our collection baskets.  The biggest need is for shoes for children.  Bro. Heath will be glad to have them at any time.  We will meet to organize and deliver shoes on Tuesday, September 3rd at 9:00 A.M.  Come join us to receive a special blessing as we pray over each pair of shoes.  Our September collection project for Re-Store will be school uniforms of any size and for any school.  Items can be placed in the collection baskets near the office entrance and the main doors of the sanctuary.  Our October and November collections for Re-Store will be jackets and blankets. Those of you who like to get an early start now know what to work on.
Individuals or classes who wish to help with Lara’s Gowns for Smiles are encouraged to by five or more yards on a solid color of 100% cotton fabric.   Suggested colors will include red, green, blue, pink, purple, white and any neon colors you find.  We will wash the fabric and set a date to cut bias strips and join them so bias tape for the gowns can be made.  This is much more economical than buying packs of bias tape.  Thanks to Peggy Alford for making our first L-O-N-G roll of bias tape.
The August “Young” Ladies’ Birthday Party was another great lunch gathering with thirty present to celebrate birthdays of Fay Shoemaker, Frances Gay, Ferrie Gene Blackmon, and Melissa Johnson.  The September celebration will be on the 24th at Nyla’s at 11:00.  Ladies who will be honored in September are Yvonne Birch, Susie Wales, Ann Smith, Laura Joiner, Jan Yarborough, Mary Y. Miller, Glenda Schillings, and Betty Simpson.  If you know of a name that has been omitted, please contact Lauree at the church office, 985-229-8111.
new ladies’ Bible Study will begin on Friday, August 30th at 10:00 A.M. in the fellowship hall.  All ladies are invited to laugh and study with us.  The study is based on clips from the “Lucy” series.  There is no cost and no homework.  Each lesson “stands on its own”, so if you miss a week, you can join the group the next week without any problems.  Ladies from other churches are welcome to study with us.
There will be a quarterly associational WMU meeting at East Fork Baptist Church on Monday, September 9th at 4:00 P.M.  All ladies are urged to participate.
The Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home will be conducting their Fall Food Round-Up this month.  The truck will be at FBC.Kentwood at 8:00 A.M. on Monday, September 16th.
