A resident of Independence, she died at 4:09 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at her residence. She was born March 13, 1925 in Independence and was 87 years of age. She was a member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 12 Noon on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013. Services conducted by David Whittle. Interment Colonial Cemetery, Independence. She is survived by her son, Nicholas Joseph Bruno, III and wife, Darlene, Independence; 2 granddaughters, Brandie Bruno Layrisson and husband, Parker and Jessica Barrilleaux and husband, Carbett, Sr.; 2 great-grandchildren, Carbett Barrilleaux, Jr. and Olivia Grace Barrileaux She is preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Joseph Bruno, Jr.; parents, Guiseppe and Catherine DiGiovanni; 2 brothers, Paul and Michael DiGiovanni; and a sister, Olivia Mannina; In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Richard Murphy Hospice Foundation.
