Virgil V. Woodard, Sr.
(November 2, 1920 – November 17, 2012)

A resident of Kentwood, he died on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at his home. He was born November 2, 1920 in St. Helena Parish and was 92 years of age. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II and was a retired carpenter from Carpenters’ Local Union #1098. He is survived by his 3 sons, Woody Woodard and wife, Mary Lee, Roy Woodard and Gary Woodard; 1 daughter, Mary Sue Woodard, all of Kentwood; son-in-law, John Lester, Loranger; 4 grandchildren, Sam Woodard, Kentwood, Brandon Lester and wife, Kori, Loranger, Casey Whittington and husband, Jason, Ponchatoula and Ashley Woodard, Greensburg; 4 great-grandchildren, Eli Woodard, Barrett Whittington, Reese Whittington and Khloe Lester; 2 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Tullie Dean, Kentwood and Mrs. Martha Cain, McComb, MS; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many other family members and friends. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nell Woodard; daughter, Patricia Lester; 6 brothers and sisters, Buddy Woodard and wife, Ethel, Willie Woodard, Betty Harrell and husband, Frank, Maggie Ballard and husband, Phil, Corine Lillie and husband, Lemie and Clara Lee Woodard; 2 brothers-in-law, Pat Dean and Joe Cain. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 19, 2012. Services conducted by Rev.
